Altura Learning releases 2026 course calendar as aged care reform drives focus on workforce capability and clinical governance

Last updated on 4 March 2026

As aged care providers prepare for the full impact of the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and the Aged Care Act 2024, Altura Learning has released its 2026 Course Calendar to support organisations in strengthening workforce capability and demonstrating clinical readiness under increased regulatory scrutiny.

The release comes as providers are facing tighter budgets, longer procurement cycles and rising expectations from regulators and boards to show not just that training has been completed, but that staff have the capability to deliver safe, consistent care. Across the sector, the focus is shifting from training activity to evidence of workforce competence and governance oversight.

Altura Learning’s 2026 calendar reflects this shift, with a structured program of refreshed and newly developed courses aligned to the Strengthened Standards and the requirements of the Aged Care Act 2024. The program focuses on high risk clinical areas, practical decision making and the consistent application of best practice across both residential and community care environments.

“The new regulatory framework has changed the expectations placed on providers,” said Dr Roshmeen Azam, Chief Medical Officer at Altura Learning.

“Boards and executives now need confidence that their workforce can apply standards consistently in real world situations. The calendar has been designed to support this and mitigate clinical and operational risk, reinforce strong governance, and embed best practice standards,” Dr Azam added.

The calendar is built around a structured content renewal strategy. Approximately 20 courses are refreshed each year, with priority given to high risk clinical and regulatory areas. Content is updated to reflect current clinical guidance, incorporate real world care scenarios and align closely to the Strengthened Standards.

Scenario based learning and simulated care settings are intended to better reflect the complexity of contemporary aged care practice, while giving providers clearer alignment between training and audit expectations.

Supporting HR and governance leaders

For HR and People & Culture teams, the calendar provides a clearer annual roadmap linked to onboarding, role based capability and workforce risk management. For clinical governance leads and executives, it offers documented alignment to regulatory reform and stronger evidence to support audit processes.
