Longstanding Queensland provider Glenella Care will join Respect, one of Australia’s largest regional aged care organisations, from 1 December 2025, marking a new chapter in Glenella’s 35-year legacy of care.

The partnership will see Glenella’s 108-bed home become part of Respect’s growing network of 40 aged care homes across five states. The transition will prioritise continuity of care for residents and job security for existing staff, while aligning Glenella with a not-for-profit provider recognised for its person-centred approach and investment in regional communities.

Respect CEO and Managing Director Jason Binder said the organisation was honoured to continue Glenella’s legacy.

“Glenella Care has been providing care for close to 35 years,” Mr Binder said. “It was founded by a family who believed older people should be able to age with dignity, surrounded by the people and places they know and love. That belief is at the heart of everything we do at Respect.”

Glenella’s owner Renata Litton said the decision followed careful consideration and a shared commitment to quality and compassion.

“We knew the time would come to step back after close to 35 years of owning and running Glenella Care, and choosing the right organisation to carry on our legacy of care was essential,” Ms Litton said. “Respect gave us that confidence.”

The move comes as providers nationwide adapt to the new Aged Care Act, which puts older people’s rights and wellbeing at the centre of reform. Glenella’s integration with Respect positions it strongly to meet these standards while preserving the community values that have defined its care.

Respect, a not-for-profit operator, continues to expand its footprint across rural and regional Australia, supporting homes to deliver sustainable, high-quality care.
