Health Generation and QPS Benchmarking announce partnership to support providers with their mandatory NQIP reporting to improve star ratings, reduce staff workload and time commitments, and to improve resident outcomes.

Health Generation (HG), Australia’s largest clinical consulting company and QPS Benchmarking (QPS), a leading provider of benchmarking products and services in Australia and New Zealand, today announced a collaboration to bring to residential and home care providers a complete solution to reduce time and resources associated with NQIP requirements and reporting.

The partnership, delivering a Quality Indicator Companion service, aims to support providers to accurately collect and understand NQIP data and its reporting requirements, whilst providing clinical resources on the ground to drive meaningful outcomes in the clinical care of residents across Australia.

Health Generation’s Managing Director, Heath Downie, believes there is a natural fit between the company’s clinical consulting team and the use of QPS software through its NQIP application and benchmarking capabilities.

“It is our pleasure to work and partner with QPS Benchmarking as there are clear synergies between blending industry wide data, insights and action through our expert clinical resources and national scale,” Mr Downie said.

“From what our clients have experienced with NQIP, there is a clear opportunity to give time back to providers who are stuck between understanding what data they are collecting, how to collect it and most importantly how to use it to improve resident outcomes.”

QPS Benchmarking General Manager, Adam Holcroft, has long been looking for a consulting partner of choice to collaborate with whilst providing their existing clients the ability to leverage clinical advice, from a company who can work alongside their teams to drive better outcomes.

“We understand collecting and transforming data into usable information is a time consuming and difficult job,” Mr holcroft said.

“I think the industry has been eagerly waiting to see service providers work together to bring new solutions for some time now. Our partnership with Health Generation provides a real solution and a viable option to solve workforce and time issues facing providers with their mandatory reporting requirements.”

“We are excited to be able to provide a tool that service providers can use with the assurance that QPS has continued to receive positive feedback from the Department of Health that the QPS NQI data is the most precise data across the industry. This is because of the unique methodology we use to collect quality indicators that removes the possibility of inaccurate entries.”

The new HG and QPS partnership combines the power of clinical quality experts who work efficiently and effectively with technology that supports fail-proof data collection and direct online submission of NQIP data, together with benchmarking data across roughly 30% of the aged care sector.

Both companies have found that the mandatory NQIP data gathering, collection and submission process is taking considerable staff time and resources which could be better spent on direct care outcomes. Further, both companies have seen a large increase in the lack of real understanding of the requirements by providers.

The collaboration between Health Generation and QPS Benchmarking addresses the industry challenges faced by providers in that mandatory NQIP data gathering, collection and submission process is taking considerable staff time and resources which could be better spent on direct care outcomes. The recently introduced additional mandatory indicators in the past quarter has resulted in increased confusion in the sector of compliance with legislative requirements around the NQI program.

This trend has the potential to return suboptimal results in data collection, and compromised data integrity including non-compliance for incomplete or late submission. This leaves providers at risk of regulatory action, reduced star ratings, and ineffective clinical governance over residents’ safety and wellbeing.

The Health Generation and QPS Quality Indicator (QI) Companion service to give back time and resources whilst providing meaningful clinical advice on mandatory NQIP requirements and reporting, is now available for all aged care providers across Australia.
