Redland City welcomes new 5-star aged care residence

Last updated on 17 January 2023

Australian private aged care provider, Arcare, has opened its doors to a new five-star residence in Thornlands on Monday October 24, 2022, bringing state-of-the-art amenities and excellence in care to Brisbane’s Bayside.

The $40m development measuring over 11,000sqm, contains 92 suites within three communities tailored to care needs – Clifford, Langdon and Thompson; names that all have strong connections to the region’s history.

The residence offers permanent care and dementia care, using Arcare’s award-winning Dedicated Assignment model which places relationships between the residents, their family and team members above all else.

Arcare CEO Colin Singh says, “Arcare’s commitment to quality builds and environments, coupled with our Relationship-First approach, will once again deliver a world class residence for the elders of the community who are ready to take their next step. We look forward to welcoming our clients and their families to their new home.”

”We are excited to extend Arcare’s services in the Thornlands community. This opportunity allows us to not only provide a quality living environment to the aged, but also increased job opportunities and support to the local community,” Mr Singh says.

The Arcare Thornlands residence is designed with a Hamptons-style interior and is fitted with 100kw solar panels and built with materials such as steel frames, Hebel panels, water- saving fixtures, and insulation to assist with natural cooling and heating.

Residents have access to their own ensuite and communal amenities such as a boutique Café, three Courtyards, open Activity rooms, a Hair Salon, Theatre, Physiotherapy room, Private Dining Room, Community Piano Room and suites with courtyard or verandah access.

For the first time, Arcare Thornlands will feature a commercial, medical, and allied health precinct consisting of seven tenancies, providing convenience to the local area. The opening of the aged care residence will be creating over 100 jobs and utilising local businesses where possible to support the local economy.

Residence Manager Samantha Scott relocated from the UK to Queensland in 2015 and lives locally in the Redlands area. She brings with her a wide experience in the healthcare industry, from aged care to emergency care in hospitals.

“It is both a privilege and an honour to provide care to our aged care residents and to be able to empower others to do the same. My favourite part of working in aged care is building long term relationships with residents, their family members, and our team members,” said Ms Scott.

“Since joining the industry, it has been a dream of mine to commission a new residence. Arcare has such a great reputation and with its 5-star approach, I knew that this was the opportunity for me to be part of aged care excellence in the Thornlands area.

“I am looking forward to enhancing my local connections with primary healthcare providers, as well as welcoming new residents and their loved ones. I foster an open-door approach and will always be available to be of guidance, support and assistance where needed.”
