Twilight Aged Care appoints new CEO

Sydney’s Twilight Aged Care has announced that Niamh Mannion is its new Chief Executive Officer, with the passionate leader to commence her role on 21 July, 2025.
Ms Mannion’s predecessor, Neil Wendt, passed away suddenly in January after seven years as Twilight’s CEO.
Twilight Aged Care Board Chair Lorraine Lovitt welcomed Ms Mannion to the organisation.
“Niamh is a passionate leader with considerable experience of making a difference for community in the private, government and more recently not-for-profit sectors,” Ms Lovitt said.
“She brings over 15 years’ experience developing and implementing strategy and leading cultural change, all with a focus on improving people’s lives.
“Her heart for service and her leadership skills align with Twilight’s vision mission and values, and the legacy of our former CEO Neil Wendt for providing exceptional care to our residents with unwavering dedication.”
Before joining Twilight Aged Care, Ms Mannion was the Executive Director of Vinnies Services in New South Wales, as well as part-time board director of Scalabrini Village and The End Street Sleeping Collaboration.
With experience in social and community services sectors, she said Twilight’s mission and long history of caring for older people aligned with her personal values.
“I am inspired by Twilight’s rich history of responding to the needs of vulnerable people in community and its family model of care, which is special,” she said.
“A focus on people having dignity, choice and control has always been central to my previous roles, and I look forward to building on that at Twilight as we create a home for our residents and families.”
Ms Lovitt added, “We envision that under her leadership she will provide Twilight the means to continue delivering inspirational care and support that creates fulfilled and meaningful lives for our residents and furthering our ability to innovate and improve our responses to the changing needs of the aged care sector.”
She also thanked Acting CEO James Carter, who stepped into the role following Mr Wendt’s death. Mr Carter previously said that his untimely death was a great loss to the organisation, family, and friends.
“Neil had a vision with commitment, inspirational leadership and passion for providing exceptional care to our residents with unwavering dedication. Neil was loved by residents, families and staff alike, and was largely responsible for the personal and special connection that we feel as “Twilight Family”,” he shared.
“This connection is at the heart of Twilight’s existence and will continue as part of Neil’s legacy for us all.”
