Dementia Training Australia, in collaboration with the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, presents Home Matters: Rethinking Aged Care Design, an eight-part webinar series exploring how thoughtfully designed environments can significantly enhance quality of life for older people while supporting safe, effective and sustainable workplaces in aged care.
Grounded in the National Aged Care Design Principles and Guidelines, the series brings together lived experience, research evidence, design expertise and provider perspectives to examine why environments matter and how they can be improved in practice.
Designed for older Australians, families and carers, as well as aged care staff, managers, sector leaders, designers and architects, the series offers in-depth, practical guidance. Sessions explore strategies for transforming existing homes and planning new builds, supporting providers and designers to understand and apply the National Aged Care Design Principles and Guidelines and related resources. Older people, families and carers will also gain valuable insight into what good design looks like when choosing an aged care home.
Each webinar can be attended as a standalone session or as part of the full series, allowing participants to tailor their learning to their interests and professional needs. Sessions feature expert presenters, real-world case studies and practical examples drawn from aged care settings across Australia. Every webinar includes a 30-minute presentation followed by a live question and answer session, providing opportunities for discussion, reflection and application to local contexts.
Whether you are navigating aged care decisions, working directly with older people, or involved in the design, delivery or management of aged care services, Home Matters provides evidence-based insights and practical guidance to support better outcomes for people and communities.
