The Department of Health and Aged Care continues to call for strong and effective infection prevention and control practices for aged care providers and staff in the battle against COVID-19 and influenza.

The Australian Government announced in 2022 that it had pushed back the ambitious July 2023 date to deliver in-home aged care reforms by July 1 2024, the deadline decided by the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.

A new aged care facility in Adelaide’s north is close to welcoming its first lot of aged care residents – offering improved, research-backed delivery of care to older Australians.

The Retirement Living Council (RLC) is working with State Governments and aged care residents to reform legislation to make retirement living easier to establish more facilities and make the sector more viable for investment. 

The aged care industry continues to change and evolve to provide an environment where older Australians can age well and having ‘home-like’ comforts to keep them entertained, engaged and connected with the world around them can help with that process.
